I LOVE it. I was thru this area yn 89 and that book brought me a lot of great memories. Me ha encantado. And I liked the way the stories were told, too.

In most of the chapters, half the chapter was about a local story, since the book is about living in small-town Rhinebeck, NY. But the other half of the chapters are about a bigger subject that evolved from telling the small-town story. And both parts proved very interesting, especially if the reader is from This was an interesting read.

And both parts proved very interesting, especially if the reader is from Dutchess county. There will be many people and places to be recognized, and some of the historical stories are the most interesting of all. And I learned some things about American history that I never knew before, too. And this book refutes the idea that many cosmopolitan people have of small towns--that small towns are boring places where nothing happens. The people you meet in this book are pretty darned smart, successful, and thoughtful people.

Though I must confess, the Hudson Valley seems special and has charmed people for many years into staying there. It truly is one of the more beautiful places in the US. Fesser has put into his book what Charles Kuralt put into his TV show years ago--stories of seemingly ordinary people in a small town, quietly enjoying their lives.
